Day 7 – 5 Favorite Songs
This is probably the hardest blog I’ll ever write LOL anybody that knows me knows that i LOVE music. It is real life therapy for me most days so bear with me here. I think the best way to go about this is by genre. I pick 5 songs and attempt to make them from 5 different genres.
Here goes nothing…
1. Favorite Gospel Song (currently) Tasha Cobbs Leonard – I’m Getting Ready
I selected this song because no matter when it is, every time I get in my car for any amount of time this cong comes on the radio and the last time this happened it was William Murphy “This Is My Season” and I ended up receiving a much needed breakthrough that allowed me to quit bumming at an old friend’s house and get back on my feet. So I know in my heart that this song is a precursor to the next blessing that God has for me. Now, I couldn’t mention this song without adding Todd Galberth “Lord You Are Good” as an honorable mention. This song keeps me in perspective and reminds me that no matter how bad I feel life is, God is always and will always be good. Too good and way more than I deserve on any given day.
2. Favorite RnB Song ….Whew Chile IDK! there are just so many. Vivian Green – Beautiful
I just so happened to be sitting on the couch streaming songs from my old spotify account and stumbled across this song again. Vivian Green is such an amazing artist and this song perfectly describes where I am in life right now. Especially the 1st verse of the song. She describes exactly what a woman wants from a man and how I have felt in previous relationships and even sometimes in my current “whatever”
3. Favorite Pop Song Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats (don’t ask)
This song rides! I don’t care what anyone says. Me and my bestie Jelly still randomly breakout into full concert mode on this song. You would think we wrote it ourselves and actually experienced the lyrics LOL Carrie sings this song from the depths of her soul. Another fave would be by Kelly Clarkson “Since You Been Gone” that always brings out the best car concerts for us too
4. Favorite Jazz Song Duke Ellington – In A Sentimental Mood
This is just a feel good song all around. All the horns and keys blend together perfectly and no matter what kind of day you’ve had, you can cut this on and pour your favorite glass of wine and all your cares fade away
5. Favorite Hip Hop Song Notorious B.I.G – Juicy
I mean do I really need to explain this one LOL anyone that knows me also knows that I love B.I.G and this is my all time fave song by him. I often wonder what the rap game would be like if he & 2Pac were still alive. Definitely wouldn’t be so much mumble rap that’s for sure.
